Child marriage was banned in Pakistan’s Sindh province 11 years ago, but what good is a law that isn’t enforced?

To finally enforce it, Sindh just upgraded penalties: up to 10 years in jail and massive fines for anyone marrying off girls under 18.

The 2014 law already set the age at 18; now violators (parents, grooms, clerics) face real prison time. registrars must check IDs or get locked up too.

It’s a huge step in a country where 1 in 5 girls still marries as a child. Sindh is leading—let’s hope the rest of Pakistan follows. Continue to pray for the women of Pakistan who are facing such oppression.
