Micron Technology is changing how it makes and sells RAM, but it’s not completely gone. Here’s the nuance:

As of December 2025, Micron announced it will exit the consumer RAM/SSD market — that means it will stop selling RAM and SSDs under its consumer-brand Crucial by February 2026.

However — and this is important — Micron is not shutting down DRAM production altogether. It plans to continue producing memory chips for enterprise, data-center, and AI uses (e.g. high-performance DRAM, HBM, etc.).

So: for a typical PC user wanting to buy retail RAM kits, it will become harder (after Feb 2026) to get new Micron/Crucial RAM. But for servers, AI hardware, and other specialized markets, Micron remains active and supplying DRAM.
